About the Class

Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the organization and launch of an exhibition at the Barnes. Taught by Cindy Kang, curator of the summer 2025 collection installation From Paris to Provence: French Painting at the Barnes, this class will give students a preview of the themes of the show and provide an exclusive look at how various departments across the institution collaborate to successfully present an exhibition to the public.

Instructor

Cindy Kang

Kang is a curator at the Barnes. She is a specialist in modern European art and particularly focuses on the relationship between painting and decorative arts in late 19th- and early 20th-century France. In addition to curating From Paris to Provence, she co-curated Marie Laurencin: Sapphic Paris (2023–24), curated Marie Cuttoli: The Modern Thread from Miró to Man Ray (2020), and served as managing curator for the Barnes presentations of Berthe Morisot: Woman Impressionist (2018–19) and Renoir: Father and Son / Painting and Cinema (2018).
