Corporate EITC Giving

The Barnes Foundation is an approved Educational Improvement Organization under Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. This designation recognizes our educational programs as enhancing the curriculum of public schools and offers generous tax credits to businesses that support these programs.

Eligible businesses can apply to receive tax credits equal to 75% of their contribution (up to a maximum of $750,000 per taxable year). Those that agree to provide the same amount for two consecutive tax years can receive 90% of the contribution as a tax credit.

Is my business eligible?

Businesses in Pennsylvania that are subject to one or more of the following taxes are invited to apply to the EITC program:

  • Corporate net income tax
  • Capital stock franchise tax
  • Bank and trust company shares tax
  • Title insurance companies shares tax
  • Insurance premiums tax
  • Mutual thrift institution tax
  • Insurance Company Law of 1921
  • Personal income tax of S corporation shareholders
  • Personal income tax of S partnership partners

Your EITC-eligible contribution to the Barnes will help support the following programs for School District of Philadelphia students:

Pictures and Words (Grade 3) Third graders read paintings like text by coming up with ideas about what characters, setting, and main idea the artists present in their works. Students build inference-making skills by learning how artists use elements such as colors, lines, and shapes to convey a story.

The Art of Looking (Grade 5) This is a STEAM program (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) exploring the elements of composition—light, line, color, and space—and their connection to other subject areas. Fifth graders examine art from artistic and scientific perspectives; sixth graders use mathematical vocabulary to analyze paintings.

Artist Voices (Grade 7) Seventh graders learn how works of art express an artist’s voice and view of the world. Students discover artists in the Barnes collection who were radical rule-breakers in their time, defying convention to express their unique viewpoints. Students explore their own artistic voices in writing and artwork.
