About the Talk
Members are invited to an exclusive online talk on Pablo Picasso and surrealism with Barnes research fellow Naina Saligram. Even though Picasso never identified as a surrealist, the surrealists recognized him as a central player in their mission to revolutionize society through language, art, and thought. “We claim him unhesitatingly as one of us,” leader André Breton declared in 1925, just months after publishing a manifesto that formally announced the inception of the surrealist movement. Now, a century later, join us as we reconsider Picasso’s place in this group, as well as its influence on his artistic production in the 1920s and 1930s.
Registrants will be emailed a link for the talk the day prior.
