About the Tour
Each month, Spotlight Tours focus on a different artist or theme, allowing for a deeper dive into specific areas of the collection.
The bather is one of the most common motifs in art history. From ancient Athens to 20th-century Paris and beyond, artists have presented bathing figures in a variety of mediums for a myriad of reasons, whether instructional, titillating, or allegorical. This tour focuses on how the trope was used over time and how bathing scenes by modern artists showcase a new way of seeing and appreciating natural and physical beauty.
Includes access to the collection before and after the tour.
